I am a mechanical engineer. For about ten years I worked in passenger cars, and for more than seven years in heavy vehicles, as a design engineer, a development engineer, and a supplier quality manager for Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and Scania.

As a design engineer at Nissan and Mercedes-Benz, I designed the body-in-white parts you touch every day without thinking about them: hoods, fenders, doors, and roofs. That work ran from compact cars like the Nissan Kicks all the way to the latest Mercedes-Benz GLC. For Scania trucks I moved into interior plastics, both thermoset and thermoplastic, designing roof shells, side walls, and back panels.

Along the way I sat with more than a hundred tier one and tier two manufacturers and watched their lines run shift after shift: injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, stamping, casting, forging, and deep drawing. I did this across Japan, India, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Indonesia, inside plants like Renault-Nissan in Chennai, Mercedes-Benz in Pune and Sindelfingen, and Scania in Södertälje and Oskarshamn.
